Wash Cold — Every Time
Heat is the number one enemy of print-on-demand and screen-printed graphics. Hot water breaks down the inks and the bond between the print and the fabric faster than almost anything else. Cold water (30°C / 86°F or below) cleans your shirt just as effectively while protecting the artwork. Make it a habit: cold wash, always.
Turn Your Tee Inside Out Before It Goes In
This one's easy and it makes a real difference. Turning your tee inside out before tossing it in the machine protects the printed surface from direct friction against other clothes and the drum. Less abrasion = less cracking and peeling over time.
Use a Gentle Cycle
Aggressive spin cycles put unnecessary stress on the fabric and the print. Whenever possible, select the gentle or delicate cycle on your machine. Pair that with a mild, dye-free detergent and skip the fabric softener — softeners can coat the fibers and dull the vibrancy of the print.
Be Careful with Heat When Drying
If you use a dryer, go low heat or tumble dry on a no-heat setting. Direct high heat on a printed surface is where most of the damage happens. The ideal option? Lay your tee flat or hang it to air dry. It's slower, but your print will thank you.
If you do iron, never iron directly on the graphic. Flip the shirt inside out or place a thin cloth between the iron and the print.
What About Print Lifespan?
We get this question a lot — how long will the print last? Honestly, it depends on how the shirt is cared for. Proper washing and drying habits significantly extend the life of any printed graphic tee; poor habits (hot washes, high heat drying, heavy detergents) accelerate wear. There's no fixed number we can promise, but the difference between shirts that look great after years and shirts that fade after months almost always comes down to laundry habits.
